SUMMARY Provide timely, accurate and friendly service while preparing the highest quality beverages for our guests.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (include the following, other duties may be assigned)

  • Required to attend Liquor Control Board Seminar.
  • Take beverage orders from guests and servers.
  • Check proper identification and follow all state and local liquor laws and regulations.
  • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages consistent with the resort's standard drink recipes.
  • Learn the names and personally recognize regular customers.
  • Record drink orders accurately and immediately after receipt into the register system.
  • Accept guest payment, process credit card charges and make change (if applicable).
  • Prepare garnishes for drinks and replenish snacks and appetizers for bar patrons.
  • Maintain bottles and glasses in an attractive and functional manner to support efficient drink preparation and promotion of beverages.
  • Clear and reset tables in bar area.
  • Present drink menus, make recommendations and answer questions regarding beverages.
  • Maintain cleanliness in all areas of the bar including counters, sinks, utensils, shelves and storage areas.
  • Receive and serve food orders to guests seated at the bar.
  • Report all equipment problems and bar maintenance issues to manager.
  • Maintain liquor control cost of sales (no over-pouring).
  • Assist the restocking and replenishment of bar inventory and supplies.
  • Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurants.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor, which could be directly related or unrelated to the original position.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.

    REASONING ABILITY

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

    COMPUTER SKILLS

    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Point of Sale and Order processing systems.

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

    Must hold valid Vermont Department of Liquor Certification (every 2 years) preferred. Opportunity to attend the seminar will be provided in some cases.

    OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES

    Excellent customer service skills required.

    OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

    Must be available to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed. Hospitality or bartending training an asset.

    Must be 21 years of age and have working knowledge of beer, wine, liquor and common drink recipes.

    The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

    RESORT CONDITIONS

    This is a Winter Resort Area. It requires that work venues are varied, and in many cases include steep stairways, multi-level buildings and outdoor work areas, subject to very cold, sometimes wet or very sunny work sites. Some facilities are located at the base or bottom area and some are semi-remote and can only be reached by traveling via chair lift(s), skis or snowboards. Walking surfaces are frequently frozen, sloped and slippery. Proper footwear is a must, indoors and out. Work days and hours, as well as the number of hours required will vary, with an emphasis on weekends and holidays.
